The State of the World (September 11, 2006)

What a difficult time period for the human family - the One humanity!  Like many of you, this writer experiences deep pain, as well as intense feelings of helplessness at the present state of world affairs.  It appears as though events of recent years have spiraled out of control.  The suffering of the innocent, the willful killing of children, and the present mindset of hatred, found in so many, weigh heavily on those of us working for a better and more peaceful world.  And we must never forget those that are suffering on the planet as a result of disease and hunger.  The task before us is daunting, to say the least.  The issues facing us today are perhaps the most difficult challenges humanity has ever had to deal with.  So, what do we do, give up?  Of course not - we fortify and renew our efforts!  We focus and apply all of our combined will power on the problems facing us today.  Remember, energy follows thought.

All of the major problems confronting humanity today, WITHOUT EXCEPTION, can only be resolved through the international community.  There is no other way.  It is IMPOSSIBLE to defeat terrorism through military might.  It is IMPOSSIBLE to stop terrorist activities by sealing off borders.  The ONLY solution to the problem of terrorism is to be found in addressing those situations and conditions that create the mindset (or should we say emotional set) of those responsible for these heinous acts.  Religious intolerance, racial hatreds, poverty and individual national policies come to mind as some of the causes of present unrest.

It is heartening to note that recent polls show people throughout the world voicing specific opinion on the troubling conditions of our times.  The immediate availability of news and information has placed most everyone on the planet in a position to know what is going on everywhere on the globe.  And it is further heartening to note that these polls show more and more people focused on peace and solution, rather than hatred and retribution.  The combined force of public opinion is drawing to the surface and as time goes on will be reflected ever more strongly in the voice of national governments.  Unless there is a desire to solve world problems through an international medium, there will be no solution.  It appears that maybe, just maybe, desire is starting to infuse the world's populace with ever increasing potency.  Once this undeniable force overtakes humanity there will be no outlet other than to pass that desire on to their respective leaders.

Voicing specific solutions to problems facing the world in the Middle East and Africa are presently arrived at and used primarily for political or financial benefit.  And then there is the use of fear in an attempt to sway and control the masses.  Unfortunately, this has been working to political benefit.  There has been not movement by the most powerful countries in the world to seek solution from the international community.  There has been manipulation, abuse and complete disregard for international opinion.  They believe their goals and policies are best, and the smaller, less powerful countries are unimportant.  This needs to change.  There is presently only one world body capable of dealing with global issues, and that is the United Nations.  Perhaps it is a hopeful sign that recently the United Nations has been brought into playing a more active role in the chaotic events of these past few months.  Let us hope so.  And let us also offer our support for their efforts in any way we can.

What can we do?  Meditate!  Infused with love, focus your will toward international involvement and solution.  Talk with people about the need for global cooperation.  Practice and promote goodwill.  This is our work.  Let us step up our output, always in positive ways and harmlessness of intention.

Be with us!

Quote:

"I close with an appeal to all who read these instructions to rally their forces, to renew their vows of dedication to the service of humanity, to subordinate their own ideas and wishes to the group good, to take their eyes off themselves and fix them anew upon the vision, to guard their tongues from idle speech and criticism, from gossip and innuendo, and to read and study so that the work may go intelligently forward. Let all students make up their minds in this day of emergency and of rapid unfolding opportunity to sacrifice all they have to the helping of humanity. Now is the need and the demand. The urgency of the hour is upon us, and I call upon all of you whom I am seeking to help, to join the strenuous effort of the Great Ones. They are working day and night in an effort to relieve humanity and to offset those evils and disasters which are immanent in the present situation. I offer to you opportunity and I tell you that you are needed—even the very least of you. I assure you that groups of students, working in unison and with deep and unfaltering love for each other, can achieve significant results.

That each of you may so work, and that each of you may lose sight of self in the realization of world need, is the earnest prayer and deepest aspiration of your brother, THE TIBETAN."

- A Treatise on White Magic, p-639-640,  by Alice A. Bailey

"...men deal with effects and not with causes; for instance, mankind is concerned with war and with horrified preparations for more war, and is not primarily occupied with that which causes war and which, if rightly handled, would prevent war."

- The Rays and the Initiations, p-730 by Alice A. Bailey
